Wild boar Sus scrofa A wild boar is a stocky animal with a large extended head. The body is 130-175 cm, height is up to 100 cm, rarely a little bit taller, Weight is 60-150 kg (sometimes up to 275 kg), the longest of the skull is 37-40 cm. Hunting terms - from 01 till December 31. The body is covered with elastic bristle, which forms a crest on the back. The colour is black-brown, sucking-pigs are striped. Wild boars can be met in the dark coniferous taiga, in the mixed and deciduous woods and in the bushes. In the mountains he climbs up to 2000 m. Wild boars, except adult males and females with sucking-pigs, live in the herds. A wild boar has an excellent sense of smell and hearing. As a rule, the matrimonial period falls on November and January. At the beginning of the matrimonial period in autumn wild boar males create the largest herds, attaching to the females with sucking-pigs. The herd of wild boars comes to feed before sunset and eat till the sunrise; males come later than their families. Hunting for a wild boar "iz zasidki" -       Hunting is held in winter period from December 01 till December 31 -       The day temperature is from - 5 0 С to - 30 0 С -       Depth of snow is 10-40 cm -       The best tour term is 7 days -       The group quantity: 1-2 persons Hunting is as following: A hunter conducted by an experienced forester comes to the prepared hunting place (food has been put before here several times) and wait for an animal. Before coming up to these places wild boars are standing for a while, sniffing and listening. At this very time they are especially sensitive, that's why a hunter should be extremely attentive not to frighten the animals. The shot is made from 25-30 m. The most convenience time for this kind of hunting is evening twilight up to the darkness. It's possible to hunt at night; in this case the shoot is made with the light. The recommended weapon at  hunting - smooth-barreled guns of 12 or 16 calibres (cartridges equipped by bullets). To get a wonderful trophy, a hunter should be patient and sharpshooter.
