Fallow-deer Cervus elaphus A fallow-deer deer is a large, slender, mighty animal. In Eastern Siberia there are two kinds of fallow-deer – the maral and  the izubr. They differ from each other in size and constitution of their antlers and feathers of coloring. The Maral is the largest deer. Its body is 250- 265 cm , the height is 135- 155 cm , weight - 300- 340 kg . It has powerful antlers sometimes of eight branches. It can be met in the West of Lake Baikal, in the forests of Sayany Mountain Ranges. Isubr - a bit smaller. It lives in the East of Lake Baikal. Its antlers are lighter and more graceful, there are six branches on them, their antlers are shorter, but thicker then the maral's. Terms of hunting - from September 15 till October 15 . In the Pribaikal'ye (Irkutskaya region) exists this unique kind of animal combining the traits of an isubr and a maral. Some zoologists consider it to be the another race of a noble deer. Although traditionally it is called an isubr in this region. These animals dwell in coniferous, deciduous and mixed woods. Their  favourite places are light and rare wood plantings and grassy lawns. In the mountains they can be met on the Alpine Lawns at the high of 1700- 3000 m under the sea level. You can meet a single animal and also a herd of three or six animals, living together. The period of readiness to reproduction falls on September and October. At this time, adult males roar very excitably and fight fiercely. There were some cases when one contender killed another or both died having linked by their antlers. Hunting during deer's roaring so called "na revu". It's one of the most beautiful hunting in Siberia. You can enjoy the beauty of the autumn taiga. Unforgettable colours of the withering wood against the background of the Pribaikal'skie Mountains, the purest air and the absence of bloody-sucking insects create a special unbelievable atmosphere and leave bright impressions of a successful hunting. -       Autumn hunting is held from September 15 till October 15 .   -       The day temperature is from 0 º С to + 15 º С , the night temperature is from 0 º С to - 7 º С . -       The best tour term is 7 days or more -       The group quantity: 1-2 persons        Hunting: Hunting's time is a matrimonial period of isubrs . Hunting is held in the morning and in the evening. A forester and a hunter-tourist go very carefully through the woods. A forester imitates the roar of the exited deer male with a trumpet, beckoning the trophy stag to the hunter. The shoot is made from 50- 100 m .  If it happens at night, the shoot is made with lighting. -       The recommended weapon at the hunting - rifles or carbines of calibre of 7,62 mm . - Recommended clothes: warm hunting costume from not rustling fabric, a woolen cap, waterproof shoes with soft soles. -       The delivery from Irkutsk up to the hunting place: vehicle, in the addition wheel and caterpillar tractors, motor boats, and animal-drawn transport can be used. -       The time from Irkutsk up to the hunting place takes 4-6 hours; there will be a stop for an hour for resting and eating. -       Accommodation of hunting-tourists depends on the hunting place. Stay is possible in home conditions of Siberian hunters-tourists, hunting bases, winter stations. -       Serves: timbered loghouses, furnace heating, three-single meal, Russian bath-house, toilet is outside.
